About EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy for treating trauma related issues. It's effectiveness is supported by a large body of peer-reviewed research. It is recommended by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and World Health Organisation as an effective therapy for treating trauma related issues.

Most of the time, your body is designed to process events in your life without you being aware of it. However, sometimes, when something out of the ordinary occurs, you can feel overwhelmed by a stressful or traumatic event and your natural coping responses can become overloaded.

At these times, experiences can become stuck or frozen, they keep bothering you and you can continue to experience strong emotions when you are reminded of these events. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that can help create connections between your brain’s memory networks and enable your brain to process the overwhelming memory.

What is Group EMDR?

The EMDR Group Protocol is a structured EMDR treatment that has been designed to be used in a group setting. It has been developed to work with people who have been impacted by challenging events that continue to have ongoing negative consequences. There is increasing evidence that it is effective at reducing trauma-related symptoms.
